There’s been plenty of new iRacing announcements over the last couple of days.

I’m a bit disappointed the Silverado has been delayed but it’s only a couple of weeks, tied in to the new build of the software so it’s not a huge deal.

We’ll be getting pit-stops and yellow flags for the ovals in the next build as well as some other unspecified features “if they are ready”.

The week 13 schedule is very disappointing, I’ve no big interest in driving the Solstice or Rookie Legends again and the Formula Mazda on the ovals leaves me a bit cold really. The most interesting choice is the Radical around Sebring but I don’t anticipate racing the Radical for a while so maybe practicing the Silverado or Formula Mazda for next season might be a better bet.

Now my road SR is above 4 again (although maybe not for long if I do too many more Skippy races!) I can race the Formula Mazda.

Here’s a Team Redline lap to show us mortals how it’s done.

I haven’t mentioned the Formula Mazda much yet as my SR is too low to race it at my current license level (‘D’) but I’m pretty close and I have the car in the garage!

I’m now have a Formula Mazda, Radical, Silver Crown and SK Modified in the garage as well as Daytona and Barber Motorsports to drive ‘em on!

I’ve taken the plunge and signed up for a years iRacing subscription.

My bonus $60 has already been spent, along with a bit extra to buy all the content for the license ‘D’ Skip Barber road series and the Late Model oval series.

I guess I’ll hold over my $15 bonus that I get in September until I (hopefully) qualify for license ‘C’ and the Formula Mazda becomes available.

It’s Silverstone day today! Here’s a Formula Mazda at Silverstone North.

The in-car footage near the start shows what a great sense of speed you get in these cars.

Laguna Seca is one of my favourite tracks and the iRacing version of the track looks pretty fabulous!

Here is a video of a lap in one of the Formula Mazda cars (these look pretty similar to the Formula BMW’s in Race ‘07).

Check out the suspension working hard at around the 0:53 mark – very cool!
