A video of the first few minutes of a Week 13 Legends race at SOBO last night.

With 19 starters at this very short and relatively narrow track it made for some pretty scary/exciting/hectic/dangerous racing. LOOK AT ALL THOSE CARS!

I started 6th on the grid after a pretty decent qualifying session but lost a couple of places after a poor start. I pick one back up after a couple of laps then at around 2:50 in the vid there’s a HUGE wreck that takes out 5-6 cars and I’m very lucky to avoid the carnage and bouncing cars.

I ended up finishing 4th with an astonishing ZERO incidents and a very satisfying race.

Who could possibly have predicted the carnage with mixed class racing like this?

Yike, this was a close one. I’m the #5 car. I was a bit quicker than the two guys in front but couldn’t find a way past. We were getting a pretty big pack together when I get a decent run on the inside but the guy in front keeps it a little tight so I have to back off into the next turn which, it turns out was perfect timing!

The final week of my rookie season is here. I think I’ll be ready to leave the rookie cars behind after this week and move onto the challenge of getting to grips with the challenges of the Skip Barber and Late Model.

I’d like to get a win at Lime Rock and Lanier before the week is out though, then I’ll have had a win at all the rookie tracks. I think that’s a decent aim for this week.

I’ve already beaten my week 2 qualifying time and timetrial at Lime Rock and come pretty close at Lanier so things have started pretty well this week.

We’re at Lanier this week in the Rookie Legends so here’s a real taste of Legends racing!

Things really started to click this week, especially with the Solstice. I picked up 3 wins, two in the Solstice and one in the Legends, which were really gratifying.

A decent performance in the timetrials this week might see me creep into the top 50 overall to end my rookie season which I’d be pretty thrilled with.

In the Rookie Legends standings I’m 210/1784 and 68/1463 in Timetrial.

In the Rookie Solstice standings I’m 282/1764 and 58/1390 in Timetrial.

That’s another improvement in all aspects of the standings

• Week 2 review

These wins just keep coming After a frustrating couple of days, I managed to avoid the backmarkers and bring my Rookie Legends car home at South Boston 3s ahead for my first win in the ovals.

Coming from pole I built a handy lead whilst the others fought for 2nd, I didn’t have to push too hard to keep the gap and only one slightly hairy moment with a backmarker gave me any problems.
YAY!
