After a pretty decent 8th place finish at Indianapolis last week and a chunk of experience on an oval in the Indycar I was looking forward to Texas with excitement and trepidation in equal measures!
Video featuring footage from Infineon Raceway and Texas Motor Speedway. The video ends with a quote from Marcos Ambrose on how the iRacing simulation has assisted him in his first season of NASCAR Sprint Cup racing. It will be featured at RaceSavers.com.
iRacing have released some new information on the upcoming Texas Motor Speedway track.
I had no idea this track had 4 road course configurations. I’m not sure if it’s deliberate but iRacing seem to be releasing more tracks recently with both road and oval oprions.
Everything is bigger in Texas – and that includes race tracks. Texas Motor Speedway, the 1.5-mile quad-oval home to everything from NASCAR’s top three classes to the open-wheelers of the IndyCar Series to Legends Cars, is in the final stages of modeling and will be available to iRacing members in early March.A total of six configurations will be included, from the big 24-degree-banked quad oval to the pit-lane-and-front stretch short oval that plays host to Legends Car races. For road racers, iRacing’s TMS will include a total of four road-course layouts: the 2.324-mile primary circuit that includes most of the big oval and three smaller infield-only courses of 1.07, .7 and .5 miles.

Texas Motor Speedway has been confirmed as one of the racks to be released in early March.
Texas Motor Speedway is a speedway located in the northernmost portion of the U.S. city of Fort Worth, Texas — the portion located in Denton County, Texas. The track layout is very similar to Atlanta Motor Speedway and Lowe’s Motor Speedway (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway). The track measures 1.5 miles (2.4 km) around and is banked 24 degrees in the turns, and is of the quad-oval design, where the front straightaway juts outward slightly. The track is owned by Speedway Motorsports, Inc., the same company that owns Atlanta and Lowe’s Motor Speedways, as well as the short-track Bristol Motor Speedway.
Nodefinite news on whether there will be any new road courses but hopes are high for Mosport or Road Atlanta due to the partnership with Panoz.
